Jennifer Saavedra

is the clarinet instructor for Koart Academy. Born in Ibagué (Colombia), Jennifer got a bachelor’s degree in music education at the National Pedagogical University (Colombia) and a master’s degree in clarinet music performance at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia. In 2004, she won the Laward for “Best Instrumentalist” in the youth category of the National Musical Bands Competition in Paipa, Boyacá (Colombia). She also studied clarinet with José Gomez, Guillermo Marin and Mark Friedman. As a member of chamber music groups, she has been awarded important distinctions such as the International Circulation Scholarship for the District Stimulus Program of the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra (2018 Colombia), and the Chamber Group Circulation Award, same stimulus. 


She has played with the Albany Symphony Orchestra season 2022 – 2023. She has been awarded the third prize in the Birmingham International Competition (2022), the first prize in the Charleston International Music Competition (2022), third prize in the International Mozart Competition Vienna (2023), second prize in the Medici International Music Competition (2023). In 2022 she finishes an Artist Diploma at Columbus State University and currently, she is pursuing a Music Master's in performance at the same university mentorship by Dr. Lisa Oberlander. She is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in music performance at the University of South Carolina.
